The Filipino standout will attempt to become the Philippines’ first-ever two-division MMA World Champion when he faces ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

Pacio prepares for the ultimate test

Fresh off his trilogy victory against Jarred Brooks at ONE 171 in Qatar, where he unified the Strawweight MMA World Titles with a ground-and-pound finish, Pacio is carrying significant momentum into this champion-versus-champion showdown.

Moving up to flyweight marks the biggest test of his career. Pacio emphasized that this bout is not about a comeback but about growth and evolution as a martial artist. He sees the challenge as an opportunity to push his limits and pursue greatness. Despite competing on foreign soil, Pacio is confident his preparation, resilience, and the support of his countrymen will carry him through.

Wakamatsu defends home turf

Standing in Pacio’s way is newly crowned flyweight king Yuya Wakamatsu, who shocked the MMA world by knocking out Adriano Moraes in the first round at ONE 172. Now making his first title defense, Wakamatsu is determined to keep his crown in Japan.

For Wakamatsu, defending the belt is more than just competition—it is the culmination of years of dedication. The Japanese champion vowed to give everything to ensure his reign continues, especially in front of his home fans. He promised to carry the pride and responsibility of representing Japan when he faces Pacio inside the Ariake Arena.

The stage is now set for a high-stakes clash between two champions, with history and national pride on the line at ONE 173.
