BRAVE Combat Federation makes its return to China with BRAVE CF 98 on Friday, September 19, in Zhengzhou, headlined by a highly anticipated interim title bout. But all eyes will also be on the co-main event, where Africa’s Nicholas “The Saint” Hwende makes his return to action.
The former BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Champion from Zimbabwe, now based in South Africa, will move up to featherweight to take on China’s Bin “The Stalker” Xie. Their three-round contest will carry added prestige, as the winner will be awarded the YFU International Championship, a one-off title presented by BRAVE CF’s local co-promoter, YFU.

Hwende steps up to featherweight
Hwende is making his first appearance since a successful run at bantamweight, where he rose to prominence with his sharp striking, relentless pressure, and championship composure. His move to featherweight adds a new chapter to his career as he takes on one of China’s most dangerous fighters.
Bin Xie, known for his aggressive forward style and explosive combinations, promises to test Hwende’s adaptability at the higher weight class. The matchup sets up a clash of precision and aggression that could steal the show in Zhengzhou.
High stakes for African MMA
Hwende’s return is significant not only for his career but also for African MMA’s growing impact on the global stage. A victory in China would further cement his reputation as one of BRAVE CF’s most exciting athletes and strengthen the continent’s presence in the sport.
The event will be headlined by Ukraine’s Omar Solomanov taking on Kazakhstan’s Rauan Bekbolat for the BRAVE CF Interim Featherweight World Championship, with Hwende vs. Xie serving as the perfect penultimate showdown.
