The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA broke through in the V-League Collegiate Challenge 2025, earning their first victory with a dominant sweep of Mapua University, 25-13, 25-9, 25-13, on Saturday, August 16, at the Paco Arena Sports and Events Center in Manila.
Shai Omipon came off the bench to close out the match, contributing five points in just over an hour of play, including three in the third set that sealed the win.
Head coach Sandy Rieta praised the adjustments his young squad made following two straight losses, noting the team is still developing chemistry and stability in the starting rotation.

Perpetual finds rhythm with balanced attack
The Lady Altas’ offense proved unstoppable, racking up 42 attacks compared to Mapua’s 15. Their service game also turned the tide, with seven aces—three coming from Pauline Reyes.
Setter Fianne Ariola orchestrated the attack with 14 excellent sets while chipping in five points from spikes, a block, and an ace. Geraldine Palacio also shined with 10 points on five kills, three blocks, and two aces.
“Nasa status tayo ngayon ng learning system. Kung ano ‘yung weaknesses and errors natin last season, tinatry nating ayusin ngayon,” Rieta said.
Mapua struggles as Perpetual looks for momentum
The victory not only snapped Perpetual’s skid but also set a foundation for the Lady Altas (1-2) as they aim for back-to-back wins against Letran (0-1) on Saturday.
For Mapua, Freighanne Garcia and Alex Leabres scored four points each, while team captain Alyanna Ong was limited to just one point. The Lady Cardinals (0-3) will try to bounce back against the same Letran squad on Sunday morning.
