The PSC training hub in Baguio City received a significant enhancement with the installation of high-grade gym equipment worth P2.2 million, courtesy of the MVP Sports Foundation. The facility, housed in the former weightlifting center, underwent a full interior refurbishment made possible by John Hay Hotels under Landco Lifestyle Ventures, with additional assistance from FCLaranag Development Corporation.
The improved training space is designed to meet the strength and conditioning needs of Filipino national athletes preparing for international competitions. It marks the start of the Philippine Sports Commission’s renewed efforts to rehabilitate sports facilities nationwide.

Athletes express gratitude for state-of-the-art upgrades
Islay Erika Bomogao, the Philippines’ first female Muay Thai world champion, expressed deep appreciation for the upgraded space, saying, “We (athletes) will cherish the blessing that we have.”
Olympic bronze medalist Aira Villegas shared the same sentiment, promising to make the most of the opportunity: “Hindi po namin sasayangin ito. Lalo pa po naming paghuhusayan ang training namin, para sa bayan.”
PSC Chairman Pató Gregorio emphasized the urgency of such initiatives, stating, “Every day we delay opening these spaces for our athletes is a day of training lost.” He reiterated his commitment to meeting the essential needs of Filipino athletes without delay.
Public-private partnership strengthens sports infrastructure
The new strength and conditioning hub stands as a testament to collaboration between the public and private sectors. MVP Sports Foundation Executive Director Paulo Trillo affirmed their support: “We’re very happy to give help to PSC and to athletes. We look forward to more programs that we can share with Chairman Pató.”
Chairman Gregorio concluded by highlighting the core mission of the PSC’s work: “Our athletes make us so proud as a nation, kaya in everything we do, dapat happy ang atletang Pinoy.”
