The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has partnered with global sports drink brand Gatorade to strengthen its grassroots basketball programs. The partnership will benefit the SBP’s Talent Identification and Development Program and Coaches Academy, providing both technical and scientific support for athlete and coaching development.
Gatorade will be the exclusive sports drink for the SBP’s Grassroots Development Program, offering hydration and performance education to young athletes and coaches. SBP Executive Director Erika Dy highlighted the significance of the alliance, emphasizing the added value of Gatorade’s global expertise in sports science.

Enhancing Youth and Coach Development Nationwide
Coach Norman Black leads the Talent Identification and Development Program, which is open to both boys and girls under the age of 16. The program will conduct free training camps throughout the year across various Philippine regions to identify and nurture promising young talent.
Meanwhile, the Coaches Academy under Coach Jong Uichico will focus on educating and certifying coaches at different levels. The curriculum will now integrate Gatorade-backed hydration and performance strategies to elevate coaching standards nationwide.
With this collaboration, Gatorade reinforces its commitment to advancing Filipino basketball, not only through hydration but also by actively contributing to athlete training systems. The partnership aims to impact player development holistically, creating a sustainable pipeline for future basketball stars and elite coaches.
