It’s a quick turnaround for fifth-ranked ONE Championship bantamweight contender Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw, and he’s ready to make the most of it.
Pacatiw is set to return on August 2 at ONE Fight Night 34: Eersel vs. Jarvis, where he’ll face Russian newcomer Elbek Alyshov in a bantamweight MMA bout at Bangkok’s historic Lumpinee Stadium.
The Lions Nation MMA standout is eager to return to the cage after dropping a decision to #4-ranked Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu—a defeat that marked another Filipino setback against the surging Mongolian.
“I’m excited for my quick return to the ONE Championship stage,” said the 29-year-old. “Things didn’t go in our favor the last time out, but that doesn’t stop me from fighting for my goals and dreams.”
Tough test against an unbeaten grappler
Pacatiw’s comeback won’t be easy. His opponent, Elbek Alyshov, enters with a spotless 8-0 record and a dangerous submission arsenal—six of his wins have come via tapout, including five from chokes. Alyshov’s grappling is expected to be a key factor in this contest.
Having struggled with Baatarkhuu’s relentless wrestling, Pacatiw is refocusing his efforts on improving his ground game. “I’m gonna be better. I’m gonna come in hungry and determined to get that victory,” he vowed.
Stacked undercard at ONE Fight Night 34
Pacatiw’s return joins a loaded lineup for ONE Fight Night 34. In the main event, Regian “The Immortal” Eersel defends his ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title against rising star George “G-Unit” Jarvis.
The card also features a featherweight MMA rematch between submission ace Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon and Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov, as well as a heavyweight showdown between Ben “Vanilla Thunder” Tynan and Kirill Grishenko.
