The Philippine Padel Association (PPA) has made history by successfully hosting FIP Promises Manila, the first-ever official FIP junior circuit event in Southeast Asia. Held on March 29–30, 2025, at Arcovia Padel Club, the tournament marked a major milestone for Filipino padel, creating new opportunities for young athletes to gain international experience and ranking points.

A global platform for young padel athletes

FIP Promises Manila is part of the FIP junior circuit, organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP). The event welcomed 21 junior teams competing across six categories. Young Filipino athletes shared the court with players from Thailand, France, Russia, and Korea, making the tournament a truly international showcase of emerging padel talent.

For the first time in Southeast Asia, junior players had the chance to earn official FIP international junior rankings, signaling the Philippines’ growing presence in the global padel scene.

A vision taking shape

Alenna Dawn Magpantay, president and founder of the Philippine Padel Association, emphasized the significance of the event for the sport’s development.

“This event is more than a tournament—it is a dream in motion,” said Magpantay. “By creating international pathways for our juniors, we are building a future where Filipino padel players will not only compete but thrive on the world stage. FIP Promises Manila is a landmark event in the history of padel in Southeast Asia. It is a bold statement of our commitment to youth, to excellence, and to the unstoppable rise of padel in the Philippines.”

Championing the next generation

Over the two-day event, players competed under official FIP match rules: best of three sets with golden point, with a super tiebreak to 10 points in case of a one-set all.

The young athletes displayed remarkable discipline, endurance, and passion. Some players competed in up to three matches a day across multiple age categories, highlighting their dedication and resilience.

Growing more than athletes

The launch of FIP Promises Manila reflects PPA’s broader mission to build a sustainable ecosystem for padel in the country. Beyond tournaments, the association continues to develop national training programs, school partnerships, and coaching certifications.

Magpantay believes the event is only the beginning. With more clubs, schools, and athletes joining the movement, PPA aims to make padel accessible to all Filipinos, regardless of age, background, or location.

“We are growing more than athletes,” she said. “We are cultivating a culture of discipline, sportsmanship, and passion for the game.”

Scaling Filipino padel globally

With the successful launch of FIP Promises Manila, the PPA plans to continue expanding the sport’s reach. By hosting more international tournaments, they aim to position the Philippines as a key player in the Southeast Asian and global padel scene.
