The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has officially recognized Frank Lao’s election as president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF). The decision gives local volleyball a clear path forward.
The FIVB informed Lao of its decision in a letter dated Nov. 2, confirming that the PNVF’s election process met its legal and administrative requirements. The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) also welcomed the news.
FIVB Confirms Lao’s Election
The FIVB Legal Department reviewed the documents submitted by the PNVF in accordance with Article 1.6 of the FIVB General Regulations. It found that the election process satisfied the federation’s legal and administrative requirements.
The letter closed with a firm confirmation. “Thus, the FIVB confirms that your elections are recognized by the FIVB and will update all of our records, including the FIVB website directory,” the FIVB said.
AVC Welcomes FIVB Recognition of Lao
AVC president Ramon Suzara expressed comfort over the recognition on Tuesday. “Philippine volleyball can now move on and operate hitch-free of the FIVB recognition,” he said.
The confederation also congratulated Lao and said it looks forward to a strong, dynamic and collaborative partnership with his administration. It said it is confident his leadership will inspire the PNVF to reach new heights.
The AVC said it wants healthy and harmonious operations across all its member national federations. It called Lao’s election a testament to the trust the volleyball community has in his leadership.
