Juan Gomez de Liano is not scoring his way into the PBA record books. He is passing, rebounding and orchestrating his way there, and he did it again Friday, October 16.

Gomez de Liano became the first rookie ever to post back-to-back triple-doubles, finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists in Converge’s 162-108 rout of Macau in the PBA Governors Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Gomez de Liano’s Playmaking Fuels Converge’s Franchise-Best Rout

The FiberXers did more than win big. They set franchise highs in points and winning margin, and their 53 assists were the most in the PBA since Ginebra dished out 60 in a 197-168 win over Great Taste in 1985.

Of the 15 players Converge fielded, 14 scored. Justin Arana added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Justine Baltazar had a double-double of 14 and 12. Frederick Tungcab and Calvin Abueva also helped feed the ball movement.

Coach Dennis Pineda said every player got court time to build confidence, with defense as the focus. The approach left the FiberXers with a lopsided scoreline and a locker room full of contributors.

Cameron Clark Keeps Converge Winning in the Governors Cup

Cameron Clark remained unbeaten since coming in as a replacement, scoring 32 points in just three quarters while shooting 14-of-15 from the field. Converge has won four straight with Clark and improved to 7-4 in Group A.

“We have a tough game coming on Sunday but we have to take it one game at a time,” Clark said. Converge and TNT share third place in Group A and meet Sunday at the same venue.
