Farm Fresh spoiled the Premier Volleyball League debut of top overall pick Lams Lamina, sweeping Galeries Tower, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15, in the All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series on Tuesday, October 13, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Foxies stayed unbeaten.
Galeries Tower stood firm in the opening two sets, but Farm Fresh found another gear in the third. The Foxies turned a close contest into a rout and joined opening-day winners Creamline and Choco Mucho among the early conference leaders.

Foxies Sweep Highrisers
The match lasted 1 hour, 32 minutes, with Farm Fresh closing out the sweep after two tight sets. It was the first leg of the league’s novel three-series format, which will culminate in a grand championship next year.
The straight-set result gives Farm Fresh an early lift in the Siklab Series. Every win matters as teams position themselves for the legs ahead.
Mylene Paat-Rezanova provided the offensive spark off the bench for Farm Fresh. She fired a game-high 14 points on 11 attacks and three kill blocks, scoring nine of her first 10 in the second set to help the Foxies hold off the Highrisers.
Paat-Rezanova credited coach Koji Tsuzurabara’s emphasis on intent. “Tumatak lang talaga sa isip ko ‘yung laging sinasabi ni coach Koji na laging intentional sa lahat ng gagawin,” she said.
“Not only spike, but to kill,” she added, describing her mindset as an opposite player. She said she wanted every ball set to her to end in an immediate point.
Her production proved vital in a closely contested second set, where Galeries Tower refused to back down. Farm Fresh held firm to close it out, 25-22, before taking control in the third.
Galeries Tower’s resistance gave way in the third set, when Farm Fresh turned a 7-7 tie into a commanding lead with an explosive 11-0 run. The Foxies attacked from all angles while the Highrisers’ offense sputtered.
Consecutive errors from Lycha Ebon and Camille Victoria capped the meltdown. Galeries Tower never recovered, and Farm Fresh cruised to the finish to complete the sweep.
Ces Molina nearly posted a double-double with nine points and 10 excellent digs for Farm Fresh. Trisha Tubu made an impact off the bench in the last two sets, scoring nine points, including the match-clinching kill.
Louie Romero orchestrated the Foxies’ offense with 12 excellent sets. Maicah Larroza anchored the floor defense with 11 excellent receptions and eight excellent digs.
Farm Fresh will look to sustain its winning form against Nxled on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. The Foxies aim to build on this momentum in the Siklab Series.
Galeries Tower Eyes Rebound
For Galeries Tower, the defeat spoiled the much-anticipated PVL debut of Lamina, who struggled to find her rhythm and finished with nine excellent sets. The Highrisers joined Capital1 and Akari in the loss column.
Lamina, the top overall pick, was denied a winning start in her debut against a balanced Farm Fresh attack. Galeries Tower’s errors in the third set proved too costly to overcome.
Erika Deloria led Galeries Tower with 10 points, while Jean Asis contributed six. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Gayle Pascual and Ebon added four points apiece as the Highrisers searched for answers.
Creamline is among the opening-day winners, so the Highrisers face another tough assignment. They will have little time to dwell on the setback.
Galeries Tower seeks to bounce back against defending champion Creamline on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Highrisers hope to turn this loss into a win.
