Sisi Rondina and Alas Pilipinas refused to let a tough three-set loss to Kazakhstan define their campaign. The Pool E setback stung, but the Filipino stars are already looking ahead to bigger battles.

Alas dropped the opener, 21-17, before storming back to dominate the second set, 21-10. Kazakhstan, however, steadied down the stretch and closed out the decider, 15-10.

The match swung wildly from start to finish, testing both squads’ composure under pressure. Rondina admitted the missed chance weighed on the team after the final whistle.

“We missed the opportunity, ‘yan lang masasabi ko. Sayang pero brighter side pa rin kami,” Rondina said, reflecting on the tight scoreline.

Despite the disappointment, Rondina made clear that Alas Pilipinas is not dwelling on the loss. She pointed to the long road still ahead in the competition.

“Positive pa rin kami sa mga upcoming days and games namin. Nakakalungkot but at the same time nakaka-excite kung ano pa yung susunod na mangyari,” she said.

Rondina added that preparation is now the priority as Alas Pilipinas looks to regroup. “We need to prepare for the next games. Ang haba pa ng liga,” she said.

The team’s next assignment is set for Sept. 28, with their opponent to be finalized on Sept. 27 once all pool matches wrap up. Recovery and fine-tuning are now the focus.

“Kailangan namin aralin and maging maayos pa sa mga galaw namin. And babawi!!! Kahit anong mangyari. Rest and recover and banat ulit!!!” Rondina said.
