Alsaif, Basahel Give Riyadh Crowd Plenty to Cheer

In the catchweight showcase main event, Saudi Arabian star Hattan Alsaif (1-0) made her professional debut against Algeria’s Dania Ouhachi (1-2), and the hometown fighter delivered in front of her own crowd. Alsaif thrilled the audience with an early takedown, weathered an armbar threat from the Algerian fighter, and worked her way back to her feet. In the second round, Alsaif landed a thunderous overhand right that sent Ouhachi to the canvas, sealing a TKO finish via ground and pound at 3:38.

Also on the main card, Jeddah’s own Malik Basahel (4-0) put on a frenetic, dominant grappling display en route to a unanimous decision win over Morocco’s Imad El Azami (1-1). The hometown crowd celebrated as Basahel kept his undefeated record intact in the flyweight division, with two judges scoring the bout 30-27 and the third at 29-28.

Welterweight, Featherweight Tournament Brackets Take Shape

In the co-main event, Lebanon’s Hassan Shaaban (7-2) squared off with Jordan’s Hazem Kayyali (3-0-2) in a pivotal PFL MENA Welterweight Tournament matchup. Kayyali established control early with a relentless barrage of leg and head kicks to take the opening round, and although the fight remained closely contested through the final two rounds, he did enough to earn a unanimous decision and punch his ticket to the tournament semifinals, where he is now booked for October 2 in Riyadh.

Morocco’s fan favorite Badreddine Diani rounded out the semifinal field with a unanimous decision win over Egypt’s Yousef Adel.
