Vietnam continued its impressive run in the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup after posting another dominant straight-set victory on Sunday at the Candon City Arena. The defending champions remained unbeaten while reinforcing their position atop Group B.

The tournament, presented by the Philippine Sports Commission and the City of Candon under Mayor Eric D. Singson, featured another day of one-sided performances from two of the event’s early contenders.
Vietnam keeps rolling
Vietnam overwhelmed Hong Kong, 25-9, 25-18, 25-11, to secure its second consecutive straight-set victory. The reigning champions controlled every aspect of the match and rarely allowed Hong Kong to build momentum.
Thi Nhu Quynh Vi paced the Vietnamese attack with 11 points, all coming from attacks. Her performance helped Vietnam maintain offensive pressure from start to finish.

Vietnam’s dominance was reflected in the statistics as it produced 40 attack points while limiting Hong Kong’s opportunities. The defending champions also benefited from numerous opponent errors that widened the gap throughout the contest.
Sum Yuen Tang led Hong Kong with nine points, but the squad dropped to 0-2 in the tournament. Vietnam will next face Indonesia, while Hong Kong looks to regroup against Lebanon.
Taipei impresses early
Chinese Taipei wasted little time making an impact in its opening appearance of the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup. The squad rolled past Kyrgyzstan, 25-14, 25-11, 25-17, in a commanding performance.
Kyrgyzstan showed signs of resistance during the second set and stayed within striking distance early. Chinese Taipei, however, quickly pulled away and established control with a sustained scoring run.
The victory provided an encouraging start for Chinese Taipei as it joined the race in Pool A. Its balanced play and consistency proved too much for Kyrgyzstan to overcome.
Chinese Taipei now prepares for a matchup against Australia in its next assignment. Kyrgyzstan, meanwhile, will face Alas Pilipinas as it searches for its first victory of the competition.
