Grupong Bedista-San Beda tops Spartans in PYBC Season 2 Under-18 action

Grupong Bedista-San Beda secured a hard-fought 58-54 victory over San Beda Alabang Spartans in Under-18 action of the Philippine Youth Basketball Championship (PYBC) Season 2 at the Central Recreation and Fitness Center on Saturday, May 16, with both teams battling through a tightly contested finish that kept the outcome in doubt until the final minutes.

The game featured multiple momentum swings as both squads exchanged scoring runs throughout the contest. Grupong Bedista-San Beda ultimately managed to hold their composure late in the game, allowing them to secure their second straight win in the competition.

Nonato leads San Beda effort

Dwayne Nonato led San Beda with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists. His output kept San Beda competitive throughout the game despite facing sustained pressure from Grupong Bedista’s defensive execution.

Jake Montales also delivered a solid performance for the Spartans, posting 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists in a losing effort. Despite his production, the Spartans were unable to complete a 17-point comeback after falling behind earlier in the contest.

Mapua and U14 action

Mapua University continued its strong run in the tournament with a 64-53 win over D’Generals x Pro Dimes in another Under-18 matchup. Jade Alanza and Tobby Orbista led the Red Robins with 13 and 12 points respectively, helping secure their second straight victory.

In Under-14 action, Grupong Bedista-San Beda also earned a 79-58 win over San Beda Alabang Spartans in a dominant performance. Scrillah Kings also impressed in the division with a 91-62 victory over Lukkas x JTAGS, controlling the game from start to finish.
