Terrafirma rally falls short late
Terrafirma refused to fold and erased multiple double-digit deficits to stay in contention late in the fourth quarter. Maverick Ahanmisi led the charge as the Dyip clawed their way back into the game.
The Dyip cut the lead to 89-85 after a crucial three-point play, putting pressure on NLEX in the closing moments. NLEX, however, responded with composure and timely execution down the stretch.
Robert Bolick delivered the biggest shot of the game, draining a four-pointer with the shot clock winding down to restore a safe cushion. His clutch play sealed the outcome and ensured NLEX would not let the game slip away.
Bench lifts NLEX to crucial win
NLEX’s second unit played a vital role in the comeback, providing energy and production at a crucial stretch of the game. The bench stepped up when the starters struggled and helped erase the early deficit.
LJ Gonzales and JB Bahio combined for 32 points and 12 rebounds, giving NLEX a much-needed boost. Their contributions allowed the team to regain control before the starters closed out the contest.
Coach Jong Uichico credited the bench for changing the flow of the game and helping the team recover from a slow start. The Road Warriors improved to 7-2 with the win, staying among the top teams in the standings.
Terrafirma absorbed its sixth straight loss and dropped to 3-6, putting its playoff hopes in danger. Despite the defeat, the Dyip showed fight by pushing NLEX to the limit after trailing by as many as 18 points.
