Bernadeth Pons has been recognized as the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live after spearheading Creamline’s strong push in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

Pons played a crucial role in the Cool Smashers’ successful start in the round-robin semifinals, delivering clutch performances that helped the team secure key victories at the most critical stage of the tournament.

The 2024 Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player showcased her all-around brilliance, combining offensive firepower with elite floor defense to emerge as the unanimous choice among print and online sportswriters covering the league.

Pons powers Creamline with all-around dominance

The veteran winger highlighted her week with a massive 28-point explosion to lift Creamline past top-seeded PLDT in a thrilling five-set semifinal opener.

She finished with 21 kills, four blocks, and three aces, while also anchoring the defense with 22 excellent receptions and 16 digs in one of her most complete performances of the conference.

“Alam ko talaga na kaya namin kuhanin yung fourth set. Kahit na lumamang sila, kaya naming humabol. And sobrang thankful lang din kasi grabe din talaga yung effort ng bawat isa. Kasi gusto din talaga ng bawat isa na maipanalo yung game,” said Pons.

Timely performances fuel Creamline’s semifinal run

Pons’ impact extended beyond a single match, as she also delivered in Creamline’s knockout Play-In victory over Akari earlier in the week.

She tallied 13 points and 17 digs in that contest, helping secure the Cool Smashers’ place in the semifinals and building momentum heading into the next phase.

“Coming into the semifinals, na-remind kami ni coach na lahat ng mga past games namin, tapos na ‘yun eh. 0-0 ulit. So, ‘yun, parang sobrang prinepare din talaga namin,” Pons said.

“Sobrang grateful [din kami] na lumabas yung mga pinag-ensayuhan namin, kahit medyo on and off.”

Pons edged out teammate Alyssa Valdez, along with Cignal standouts Erika Santos and Vanie Gandler, and Farm Fresh’s Trisha Tubu for the weekly citation.

Creamline will look to sustain its momentum as it continues its semifinal campaign, with Pons expected to remain at the center of the team’s bid for another finals appearance.
