After dropping the opening set, Criss Cross quickly regrouped and imposed control through disciplined execution. Their ability to adjust mid-match proved crucial as they dictated the pace in the final three sets.
Criss Cross turns momentum with dominant response
The King Crunchers relied on a balanced attack and strong net defense to shift momentum in their favor. Their blocking presence disrupted the Cabstars’ rhythm while creating scoring opportunities in transition.
Jaron Requinton played a pivotal role late in the match, leading a decisive 4-0 run that stretched a narrow lead into a comfortable cushion. He also delivered the final four points, sealing the victory in one hour and 49 minutes.
“Siguro ‘yun, kailangan naming maging all out kasi ‘yung game ngayon is do-or-die para sa finals namin,” said Requinton, as he emphasized the urgency that fueled their comeback.
Finals rematch set after semifinal breakthrough
Criss Cross now sets its sights on the Savouge Spin Doctors, who previously ended their 14-game winning streak with a dramatic five-set victory. The upcoming best-of-three finals series offers a chance for redemption in a high-stakes showdown.
Four-time MVP Jude Garcia led the charge with 24 points, combining offensive firepower with defensive contributions throughout the match. Adrian Villados orchestrated the offense efficiently, tallying 30 excellent sets to keep the attack flowing.
Support came from multiple players, with Jay Rack De La Noche adding 17 points while several others contributed to maintain pressure. The King Crunchers’ depth proved crucial in sustaining their dominance after a sluggish start.
AEP-Cabstars dropped to a 1-2 record and will now compete for the bronze medal against Alpha Insurance. Despite the loss, Jared Schnake led their effort with 18 points and strong defensive numbers.
