Nxled delivered a crucial result in the Premier Volleyball League after defeating PLDT in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14, on Thursday, March 19, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre. The victory kept the team’s playoff hopes alive in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

After a shaky start in the opening set, Nxled struggled with reception and timing, allowing PLDT to dictate the early pace. The High Speed Hitters capitalized on those lapses to take control and grab the early advantage.

Momentum shift defines match

Nxled quickly regrouped in the second set, showing improved communication and tighter floor defense to even the match. The turnaround was sparked by better ball distribution, which kept PLDT guessing and unable to settle into a defensive rhythm.

The Chameleons carried that momentum into the third set, where they overwhelmed PLDT with a dominant performance. Their ability to mix power attacks with well-placed shots exposed gaps in the opposing defense and resulted in a lopsided frame.

Nxled maintained that level in the fourth set, gradually pulling away after a competitive start. Consistent execution and reduced errors allowed them to close out the match without letting PLDT regain control.

Playoff race tightens

Despite the loss, PLDT remained at the top of the standings with a 7-2 record, although its four-match winning streak came to an end. The team showed flashes of its usual form early but struggled to sustain its offense against Nxled’s defensive adjustments.

Nxled improved to 5-4, strengthening its chances of advancing as the Premier Volleyball League playoff race intensifies. The team’s balanced attack and improved cohesion came at a crucial time in the tournament.
