After a slow start in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, the Akari Chargers have flipped the script — and Ivy Lacsina is at the center of that surge.

Lacsina delivered a standout performance in Akari’s 25-21, 26-24, 17-25, 25-21 victory over the powerhouse Creamline Cool Smashers, helping the Chargers extend their winning streak to four games after an 0–3 start. Her efforts earned her the Ivy Lacsina PVL Player of the Week honor for the period of March 10 to 14.

The win also snapped Creamline’s five-game winning streak and strengthened Akari’s push for a Top 4 finish in the preliminary round.

The towering winger powered the Chargers with 20 points, built on 18 attacks, one block, and an ace during the morale-boosting win at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan.

Her offensive consistency helped Akari seize control early, taking the first two sets including a tight 26-24 second-set victory that proved pivotal in the match.

The result was significant for the Chargers, marking only their second franchise victory over Creamline, the league’s 10-time champions.

For Akari, the win reinforced the team’s growing confidence after recovering from its shaky start to the conference.

Calm approach behind Akari’s winning run

Despite the momentum, Lacsina credited the coaching staff for helping the team stay composed during intense moments on the court.

According to the Pampanga native, the guidance of the coaches has helped the Chargers manage their emotions during crucial stretches of matches.

“Sa guidance ng coaches namin, sila talaga yung nagsasabi na kalma lang kapag mataas na ang emotions,” Lacsina said.

The improved composure has played a key role in Akari’s four-game winning streak, allowing the team to execute better in tight sets and maintain its rhythm against top competition.

Player of the Week honor highlights Lacsina’s impact

For her pivotal role in the Chargers’ turnaround, Lacsina was unanimously selected as the Ivy Lacsina PVL Player of the Week by the PVL Press Corps.

Still, the 26-year-old remains focused on improving her game as the conference continues.

Lacsina said she always keeps room for new lessons every day, emphasizing that she still aims to achieve bigger goals this season.

Her mindset reflects Akari’s broader ambition as the Chargers continue to climb the standings.

Chargers eye stronger finish in preliminaries

Akari now has a strong chance to maintain its momentum with two key matches remaining in the preliminary round.

The Chargers face the struggling Galeries Tower Highrisers on March 17 before taking on the Farm Fresh Foxies on March 21.

If the Chargers extend their winning run, they could secure a favorable position heading into the Qualifying Round.

With Lacsina leading the attack and the team gaining confidence, Akari’s turnaround is quickly becoming one of the defining storylines of the conference.
