The 2026 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup is set to ignite motorsports excitement as it kicks off its first race weekend from March 13 to 15 in Riverpark, General Trias, Cavite. Highlighting this year’s series is the debut of the Next Generation Tamaraw OMR, which will compete alongside the Vios OMR in Sprint Races that promise intense, wheel-to-wheel competition. Admission to the event is free, giving fans a front-row experience of professional racing.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has been organizing the TGR Philippine Cup since 2014 to bring the thrill of motorsports closer to Filipinos. Last year, over 12,000 spectators attended the Bacoor, Cavite event, enjoying not only racing but also live musical performances, driving exhibitions, and displays of the latest vehicles.
The 2026 season introduces the Tamaraw OMR under the new Tamaraw Racing Class. Identical one-make-race cars ensure that victory depends on driver skill and strategy. TMP President Masando Hashimoto will compete alongside new racers Chenee Jimenez, Alex Lim (Banaweboy), Justin Buzzhype, Enzo Ison, and Will Lucas. They will face top drivers, including former Vios Cup champions Iñigo Anton, Dominic Ochoa, Alain Alzona, and Jesse Garcia.
New racing classes and fan experiences
The event will feature multiple racing classes, including the Sporting Class, Super Sporting Class, Legacy Class, and the new Tamaraw Racing Class. Sprint Races will showcase drivers’ skill and courage across the 2.4-kilometer street track in Riverpark, a Federal Land Community located 35 minutes from Metro Manila.
Fans will also have access to TMP’s Toyota GR performance vehicles, Lexus favorites, and upcoming models like the RAV4 and Urban Cruiser. Interactive zones will include e-Motorsports sim racing rigs, allowing attendees to experience virtual racing firsthand. Original GR merchandise will also be available for purchase.
Car club members will have an exclusive track day to test their performance vehicles on the streets of Riverpark. TMP emphasizes that these experiences aim to deepen fan engagement and highlight the versatility of the local motorsports scene.
Tamaraw OMR and the path to competition
The Tamaraw OMR was first previewed as the Tamaraw Racing Concept last year and has since undergone extensive track testing. In February 2026, TMP made the Tamaraw Race Car Package available to aspiring racers and teams. The vehicle is designed to deliver consistent performance, enabling fair and thrilling competition in the new racing class.
“The addition of the Tamaraw OMR brings a new level of excitement for fans and racers alike,” said TMP President Masando Hashimoto. “This season promises another GRipping experience as we expand racing to Cavite and Batangas. Testing the Tamaraw OMR on the track has been impressive, and we are excited for the public to witness its performance firsthand.”
Race Weekend 1 will be streamed live on the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines Facebook and YouTube channels starting at 9:00 AM. The series is supported by official partners GT Radial (tire), Petron (fuel and lubricants), and in cooperation with MOMO Italy, ROTA, Toyota Financial Services Philippines, Autoplus, Sparco Philippines, and PIAA. Additional support comes from 3M, AVT, QUAD, Tuason Racing Sports Unlimited, Brakes by AutoPerformance, OMP, myToyota Wallet, Kinto One, and AutoQuix.
