BRAVE Combat Federation has once again highlighted the excitement of submission finishes in mixed martial arts. Throughout 2025, fighters delivered decisive victories that thrilled fans, reshaped divisions, and introduced rising talent to global audiences.

The promotion has now officially announced the nominees for the 2025 Submission of the Year, celebrating the skill, timing, and strategy that define elite MMA.

Nominees who stood out

Hussain Al Kurdi made a statement at BRAVE 100 in November with a rapid rear-naked choke. Facing Egypt’s Nour Jopa, Al Kurdi dominated early and secured the submission in just 71 seconds, marking him as a rising contender in the super lightweight division. His performance demonstrated maturity and composure beyond his years, earning widespread attention.

Ognjen Mićović impressed during his BRAVE CF debut at BRAVE 102. Against Lasha Abashidze, the Serbian fighter executed a standing guillotine choke that forced a quick tap. This victory showcased his grappling precision and positioned him as one of the promotion’s most promising new talents.

Borislav Nikolić delivered a career-defining performance at BRAVE 96 in June. Battling then-Bantamweight Champion Nicholas Hwende, Nikolić endured multiple rounds of adversity before applying a precise guillotine choke in the fourth frame. His triumph not only secured the championship but also reinforced his reputation as a submission specialist.

Anton Yanchev demonstrated efficiency at BRAVE 97 last July. Controlling the fight from the opening exchanges, he transitioned smoothly to an arm-triangle choke on the mat. This submission confirmed Yanchev’s status as a dangerous finisher in the lightweight division and highlighted his strategic approach to grappling.
