The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) formalized a landmark agreement with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Tuesday, securing long-term access for national athletes to New Clark City’s premier sports facilities. This collaboration provides structured, science-based training for Philippine athletes ahead of international competitions.

The first beneficiaries of the partnership will be athletes from track and field and aquatics, who will now have regular access to the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center, and Athletes’ Village.

Long-term access for national athletes

PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio hailed the partnership as “both logical and inevitable,” emphasizing the importance of world-class facilities for world-class athletes. The Athletes’ Village features 100 fully furnished, air-conditioned rooms designed for triple-sharing, ensuring convenient housing during training.

Gregorio said the collaboration aligns with BCDA’s vision, recognizing that investments in sports infrastructure and athletes drive both economic development and national pride. BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang highlighted the synergy between the two agencies, noting that every training ground becomes a launchpad for future Filipino athletes.

Expanding collaboration across the Philippines

This marks the second recent collaboration between BCDA and PSC. The Camp John Hay multi-purpose sports facility in Baguio is scheduled for completion within 18 months, starting in the first quarter of 2026.

The ceremonial signing was attended by PSC Commissioner Edward Hayco and BCDA OIC Senior Vice President for Conversion and Development Mark P. Torres, underscoring the agencies’ shared commitment to maximize government-built facilities for athlete excellence.
