Agatha Wong claims gold in women’s taijijian and taijiquan at SEA Games

BANGKOK — Veteran Agatha Wong started the day on a high for Team Philippines, capturing gold in the women’s taijijian and taijiquan competitions at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games on Sunday, December 14, at the Ratthaprasasanphakdi Building Government Complex.

Wong tallied 9.783 points to secure the top spot, narrowly outpacing Brunei’s Lachkar Basma, who scored 9.780 for silver, and Singapore’s Law Zeanne Zhi Ning, who finished with 9.766 for bronze.

Sixth SEA Games gold for Wong

The victory marked Wong’s sixth career SEA Games gold medal, adding to her previous wins in taijiquan from the 2017 (Malaysia), 2019 (Manila), and 2021 (Vietnam) editions, as well as in taijijian in 2019 and 2021.

The 27-year-old athlete dedicated her triumph to her country and family, emphasizing her pride in representing the Philippines.

“Sixth SEA Games gold medal of my career. For God and my country,” Wong said, celebrating her latest milestone in the biennial competition.
