Criss Cross secured its fourth consecutive Finals appearance on Thursday, November 27, after a hard-fought four-set victory over UST-Gameville in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference semifinals at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. Jude Garcia led the King Crunchers with 31 points, providing steady scoring and clutch plays in critical moments. The win improved Criss Cross’ record to 4-1 and set up a championship clash against the winner of the Savouge Aesthetics–Kindai University semifinal.
The match tested both teams, with UST-Gameville pushing every set and forcing Criss Cross to respond under pressure. Errors by the Golden Spikers gave the King Crunchers openings, while consistent net play and floor coverage allowed Criss Cross to seize momentum when it mattered most.

Garcia powers Criss Cross in decisive moments
Garcia’s late-set composure was crucial, as he scored five of the team’s last seven points to close the fourth set. Earlier, he put Criss Cross at set point in the third frame with an off-the-block spike, while Noel Kampton denied Gboy De Vega at the net to secure a 2-1 lead.
The King Crunchers’ offense remained balanced throughout, with Garcia’s teammates stepping up in key rotations. Their ability to maintain pressure on UST-Gameville kept the Golden Spikers from mounting a comeback despite their aggressive attacks and floor coverage.
Supporting cast strengthens the team
Nico Almendras added 10 points and 21 excellent receptions, stabilizing Criss Cross’ backrow. Gian Glorioso matched UST-Gameville’s seven blocks with seven of his own, contributing nine points overall.
Criss Cross dominated at the net 14-7 and capitalized on 30 errors by UST-Gameville, despite trailing in total attacks, 64-54. UST-Gameville ended their semifinal run at 1-4, led by Sherwin Umandal’s 21 points and Gboy De Vega’s 17 points with 21 receptions. Trevor Valera and Kenneth Salvador also finished in double digits, but their efforts were not enough to extend the match.
