Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points in the absence of Joel Embiid, while Andre Drummond, starting for Embiid, posted 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Detroit led by as many as five points in the fourth quarter but trailed 101-100 with just under five minutes remaining.
