UST-Gameville and Alpha Insurance square off today, November 7, at Paco Arena in a pivotal Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference match, with both teams eager to strengthen their semifinal push. Both squads carry identical 2-1 records and look to break away from the chasing pack after a brief four-day rest.

The Golden Spikers enter the 4 p.m. duel fresh from a four-set victory over VNS, while the Protectors are riding high after a gritty five-set triumph over FEU-DN Steel. With only the top four advancing in the single round-robin phase, every match has grown critical as the elimination round reaches its turning point.

Alpha Insurance head coach Mike Santos acknowledged the threat posed by UST-Gameville star Josh Ybañez, saying the team remains committed to finding ways to slow him down while sustaining their own momentum. Both squads trail unbeaten Criss Cross at 4-0 and second-running Cignal at 3-1.

Cignal eyes stronger hold on No. 2 spot against FEU-DN Steel

In the main game at 6 p.m., defending champion Cignal seeks to reinforce its semifinal grip when it faces FEU-DN Steel. The Super Spikers are coming off a bounce-back sweep of PGJC Navy, sparked by new addition Jay Rack Dela Noche’s 10-point outing, while Louie Ramirez and Jared Schnake continue to lead the charge.

Head coach Dexter Clamor stressed that every remaining match is a must-win, noting that preparation and recovery will be key against a young FEU squad led by Dryx Saavedra, Lirick Mendoza and Mikko Espartero. FEU-DN Steel sits at 1-2 and looks to pull off an upset to stay in the playoff hunt.
