Bahraini mixed martial arts star Hamza Kooheji is once again on the brink of history as he prepares to chase the one accolade that has eluded him — a world championship. The national MMA torchbearer challenges reigning BRAVE CF bantamweight world champion Borislav Nikolić in the main event of BRAVE 100 on Friday, November 7, at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.

Known as “The Pride of Bahrain,” the 32-year-old looks to finally seize the moment in his home country after years of carrying the flag during the sport’s rise across the region. Kooheji acknowledged that a world title goes beyond personal achievement, calling it a symbol for every young Bahraini fighter who dares to dream.

Kooheji continues journey from pioneer to title contender

Kooheji has been a centerpiece of the nation’s MMA movement since turning pro in 2012 and has remained a key figure as BRAVE Combat Federation developed into a global promotion. With nine wins in 11 BRAVE CF appearances, he has long represented the country’s grit, growth and international ambition.

But despite his success, the moment that lingers most is BRAVE CF 57 in March 2022, when he fell short via split decision in his first world title attempt. The experience reshaped him, fueling a mission rooted in redemption and unfinished business.

Redemption in the same arena where dreams once slipped away

Fate brings Kooheji back to Khalifa Sports City, the same arena where he first came close to claiming the bantamweight crown. This time, he enters determined to rewrite the ending and lift the belt in front of his people.
