Reymark Betco once again seized the spotlight as Savouge outplayed UST-Gameville, 26-24, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, to notch its second consecutive win in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference Friday, October 31, at Paco Arena in Manila.
Betco, who missed the team’s opening-day loss to Alpha Insurance, has been unstoppable since returning. The Saint Benilde standout erupted for 20 points built on 19 kills and a block, steering Savouge to a 2-1 record and solo second in the standings of the event.

Savouge shows poise, control in key moments
Savouge head coach Sydney Calderon praised her squad’s improved discipline and decision-making in the tight exchanges, noting how maturity played a key role in weathering UST-Gameville’s surges.
Calderon also lauded Betco’s energy and commitment, particularly his eagerness to step up after missing their opener. Mark Calado chipped in 15 points and 10 excellent receptions, while Giles Torres added 12 to steady Savouge throughout the match. Shawie Caritativo contributed nine markers as Savouge limited its errors to just 19, far cleaner than UST-Gameville’s 36.
UST-Gameville fights back before falling short
UST-Gameville showed grit behind Sherwin Umandal’s late third-set push that forced a fourth frame. However, Savouge’s combination of Calado and Caritativo proved too much to overcome in the closing stretch, sealing the match after one hour and 55 minutes.
Gboy de Vega led the Golden Spikers with 17 points and 12 receptions, while JJ Macam and Trevor Valera scored 12 and 11, respectively. Former UAAP MVP Josh Ybañez was held to eight points as UST-Gameville fell to 1-1.
Savouge looks to extend its streak to three against Criss Cross on Wednesday at Paco Arena, while UST-Gameville aims to bounce back versus VNS on Sunday at Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
