New faces strengthen leadership mix
Four seats were filled by appointment. Jacob Ang and Chaye Cabal-Revilla joined as co-opted members, while Ryan Reyes was chosen as Player Representative. Peachy Cheng Medina was named interim 3×3 Representative pending the qualification of 3×3 member groups.
Ten of the 17 trustees are serving for the first time, signaling a renewed drive for innovation and collaboration. Outgoing SBP President Alfredo S. Panlilio remains part of the board as a FIBA Central Board Member, continuing to share his international expertise.
Vargas and Pangilinan lead inclusive new lineup
The new officers were also elected. Manuel V. Pangilinan was named Chairman, June Cheryl Chaye Cabal-Revilla as Vice Chair, and Victorico “Ricky” P. Vargas as President. They are joined by Vice President Robert Uy, Corporate Secretary Marievic Anonuevo, Treasurer Lennie Nocum, and Executive Director Erika Dy.
Vargas described the group as a balanced mix of seasoned figures and energetic newcomers united by one goal — to strengthen Philippine basketball at every level. Pangilinan added that the new SBP Board demonstrates real progress in inclusivity, with three women now serving as trustees and new representation from the player and 3×3 sectors.
“This is our most diverse board yet,” Pangilinan said. “We’re making sure every part of Philippine basketball has a voice. That’s how we grow — together.”
With its dynamic new leadership, the SBP aims to deepen basketball development from the grassroots to the international stage, continuing its mission to make the Philippines a global basketball force.
