PLDT regains dominance with comeback win over Farm Fresh in PVL Reinforced Conference

The PLDT High Speed Hitters proved why they remain one of the most dangerous teams in the PVL Reinforced Conference, overcoming a shaky start to dispatch the Farm Fresh Foxies, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16, late Saturday night at the Ynares Center Montalban in Rizal.

After losing the first set, PLDT regrouped quickly and relied on its veterans to regain momentum. Savi Davison powered the comeback with her attacking prowess and steady floor defense, while import Nastya Bavykina supplied key hits that stopped Farm Fresh’s growing rhythm. Together, they restored the team’s trademark intensity and confidence across the next three frames.

Third set turnaround sparks PLDT’s revival

The pivotal moment came in the third set, where the High Speed Hitters unleashed a dominant 24-12 surge fueled by Majoy Baron’s quick attacks and a timely Shiela Kiseo ace. Farm Fresh tried to recover but faltered with late errors, allowing PLDT to take full control of the match.

That run not only shifted momentum but also snapped a brief slump following three consecutive losses to sister team Cignal. “What really defines a team is how it recovers from a loss,” said Davison, who led all scorers with 20 points and earned another Best Player of the Game citation. “We stayed focused, pushed point by point, and I’m proud we finished strong against a solid team.”

High Speed Hitters reclaim momentum

PLDT coach Rald Ricafort praised his team’s composure, emphasizing the lessons learned from recent defeats. “Before the game, the reminders were about composure. We knew every match would be tough, so we just applied what we learned from the last one,” Ricafort said.

Bavykina backed Davison with 18 points, while Baron added 10, most of them in key moments of the final two sets. Kim Dy and Dell Palomata chipped in nine and seven points, respectively, to round out the balanced attack.

PLDT’s fourth-set showing underscored its trademark mix of height and hustle. The team’s solid net defense effectively neutralized Farm Fresh’s main weapon, Eli Rousseaux, whose 21-point effort wasn’t enough to extend their winning run. Trisha Tubu finished with 12 points, while Ces Molina and Rizza Cruz added 10 and seven.

The win boosted PLDT’s Pool A record to 3-1, tying the Foxies at the top and solidifying their bid for a Top 3 finish. Across the match, PLDT outplayed Farm Fresh in all major categories — 53-47 in attacks, 7-4 in blocks, and 8-7 in aces — while forcing 29 opponent errors.

With the victory, the High Speed Hitters reminded the league that once they find their rhythm, few teams can match their blend of power, depth, and poise.
