Converge unleashed its full offensive arsenal to bounce back in style, crushing Terrafirma, 125-108, in the PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday, October 22, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Alec Stockton led the FiberXers with 22 points, while Juan Gomez de Liano delivered another all-around performance with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists—his second triple-double of the young season.

Six other Converge players scored in double digits, including Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar, who each notched double-doubles. The win improved Converge’s record to 2-1 after falling short against TNT last Saturday.

Coach Delta Pineda praised his team’s depth and energy, saying, “Ni-remind ko po sila kanina na every one coming from the bench should step up. Good thing naman po most of them did contribute.”

New recruits Larry Muyang and John Lloyd Clemente added 10 points each, while Archie Concepcion provided valuable minutes off the bench. Pineda credited the improved rotation for allowing his starting big men to rest effectively.

“Kulang pa rin talaga kami so big factor na madagdag sila. Rest nu’ng dalawang bigs namin, dalawang Justin, napaganda. Good news na napagbigyan tayong mapaglaro sila,” said Pineda.

Despite the win, the Pampanga vice governor cautioned that experience remains a key factor. “Medyo lumalim bench, pero still puro young players. Iba pa rin ‘yung experience na pag nakatapat ka ng big teams,” he added.

Terrafirma fizzles after hot start

Jerrick Ahanmisi led Terrafirma with 16 points, while Mark Sangalang added 15 and JM Bravo chipped in 13. Four other Dyip players also reached double figures, but they couldn’t keep pace with Converge’s inside strength anchored by Arana’s 13 points and 12 rebounds and Baltazar’s 12 and 11.

Converge overcame Terrafirma’s torrid first half by dominating the third period, 37-25, building a commanding 94-70 lead and coasting to a comfortable 96-76 cushion entering the final quarter.
