Anna DeBeer made a thunderous Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference debut, firing 37 points to propel ZUS Coffee to a statement 25-15, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23 victory over Chery Tiggo on Saturday, October 11, at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite.
Sidelined in the opener due to ITC delays, the University of Louisville product wasted no time proving her worth, delivering a high-octane performance that nearly matched Eli Rousseaux’s 38-point league mark. She sealed the win with a decisive kill late in the fourth, sending the Thunderbelles and their supporters into celebration.
DeBeer powers ZUS Coffee to bounce-back win
DeBeer’s dazzling display came after Chery Tiggo had clawed back from multiple 10-point deficits to nearly force a decider. With the Crossovers saving a match point on a Yuni Batista spike to make it 23-24, ZUS Coffee calmly executed on the next play. A crisp reception led to a perfect set for DeBeer, who hammered home the finishing blow.
“It’s just awesome. I give all the credit to my teammates,” said DeBeer, who also tallied 14 excellent receptions. “Since I arrived, they’ve been incredibly welcoming, and playing in front of a crowd like this — it doesn’t get much better.”
AC Miner backed DeBeer with 13 points, while Kate Santiago added seven in a two-set stint. Fiola Ceballos, Riza Nogales, and Thea Gagate chipped in solid support as ZUS Coffee outgunned Chery Tiggo 68–51 in attacks. The victory brought the Thunderbelles level with Petro Gazz in the Pool B standings.

Crossovers fall short despite valiant comeback
Batista finished with 22 points, Ara Galang added 15, and Cess Robles had nine for the Crossovers. Mylene Paat’s return sparked Chery Tiggo’s second-set resurgence with key late points, but the squad struggled to contain DeBeer’s offensive rhythm in the crucial moments.
Like Rousseaux, DeBeer was nearly unstoppable. She erupted for nine points in the opening set, mixing power spikes with clever placements. Though slowed briefly in the second, she regained control in the third and fourth to steer ZUS Coffee to its first win of the import-laced tournament backed by ICTSI, Milcu, Mikasa, and Fabriano.
Her breakout game underscored her potential as one of the league’s most dynamic new stars. In a talent-stacked Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, DeBeer’s adaptability, poise under pressure, and scoring arsenal immediately set her apart.
