The PUMA Philippines Half Marathon Series 2025 officially kicked off with its Manila leg at the SM MOA Complex in Pasay City, bringing together runners from across the country for the first stop of the nationwide series. Staged in partnership with RUNRIO, the six-stage race will travel across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, celebrating athleticism and community through long-distance running.
The Manila race marked a vibrant start, with the 21K categories sold out in all cities. Slots for the 10K and 5K events are also filling up quickly as participants look forward to exclusive finisher merchandise and the chance to collect the All-City Legacy Medal by completing all six races.
Top Filipino athletes lead the pack
Leading the Manila leg was 2019 SEA Games women’s marathon gold medalist Christine Hallasgo, who topped the 10K women’s category with a time of 38:32. She highlighted the unique challenge of the series, which features different routes and climates in each location. “What’s truly rewarding is the chance to explore new places, experience different cultures, and build connections with fellow runners from across the country,” Hallasgo said.
Junel Gobotia clocked a strong 17:21 in the 5K category, reinforcing his status as one of the country’s top steeplechase athletes. Rising star Jonna Abutas also impressed with a 42:54 finish in the 10K category, continuing her consistent podium runs as she prepares for the Grand Finale in Clark this December.
Both Hallasgo and Gobotia are now shifting their focus to preparations for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games, where they aim to deliver standout performances once again.
