From Japan’s Ran Takahashi to Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli, elite players have sent messages of excitement to fans as the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship arrives in the Philippines next month. Matches will be played at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and Mall of Asia Arena from September 12–28.

Takahashi, a fan favorite in the country through his appearances in the Volleyball Nations League, headlines the Japanese team ranked No. 5 in the world. Japan leads Asia’s campaign in the 32-nation event and opens its Pool G campaign against Turkiye on September 13.
“We can’t wait to welcome volleyball fans from all over the world. Tickets now on sale! See you at the venues,” Takahashi said.
Alas Pilipinas debuts on home soil
Host squad Alas Pilipinas makes its World Championship debut against Tunisia on September 12 at the MOA Arena following an opening ceremony highlighted by K-Pop group BOYNEXTDOOR.
Pool A also features Egypt and Iran, with Iranian outside hitter Poriya Hossein Khanzadeh sharing his excitement:
“I’m so happy because we’re gonna go in the Philippines for the World Championship. See you soon!”
The event is staged by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation under president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, who also heads the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
Global powers eye the crown
Brazil, ranked world No. 3, returns with Lucarelli and his squad eager to go higher after placing third in the VNL last month. Defending world champions Italy and VNL winners Poland are also title contenders.
“Philippines, get ready! The world’s biggest volleyball stage is coming soon,” Lucarelli declared. “Feel the passion, feel the action and the pride in this historic moment in volleyball. Mark your calendar for September 12 to 28!”
Slovenia, led by emotional star Rok Mozic, also promises a strong push after back-to-back fourth-place finishes in recent major tournaments.
“I would like to invite you to buy the tickets for the Men’s Volleyball World Championship,” Mozic said. “It will be in September in the Philippines. See you there.”
