Former PBA import Lester “Papi” Prosper is back in the Philippines, giving back to the community. Prosper, together with Dr. Ireneo Bautista and the Lester Prosper Foundation Inc., held outreach activities at the Barangay 847 Covered Court at Plaza Zamora (Dambana), 1225 T. San Luis St., Pandacan, Manila.

The event featured a court ribbon cutting, mural painting, feeding program, basketball clinic, exhibition game, and turning over basketballs and volleyballs to residents. Youth players, families, and sports enthusiasts gathered to take part in the day-long celebration that combined both athletic development and community service. Among those who graced the event included coach Roger Gorayeb and PVL player Joy Dacoron as well as Prosper’s former coach at Terrafirma, John Cardel.

Prosper strengthens ties with Filipino communities

Prosper, who has endeared himself to Filipino fans during his stints as a PBA import, emphasized that these programs were part of his personal mission to give back to the country that embraced him as one of its own. The basketball star highlighted the importance of using sports as a platform to inspire young people while also addressing the community’s needs.

Lester, who now plays in Indonesia, admitted that this is was his way of sharing his blessings. It was his third community outreach in the last couple of years and the 6-foot-10 player admits he plans to do more moving forward.

Beyond basketball, Prosper’s efforts reflect his broader advocacy for community development. The Lester Prosper Foundation continues to organize projects that blend athletic training, arts, and social responsibility. The latest event in Pandacan further strengthens Prosper’s role as a figure of influence and inspiration in the Filipino sporting community.
