PFL Africa 2025 First Round continues in Johannesburg with featherweight and welterweight clashes

Following the official weigh-ins, the first round of the 2025 PFL Africa tournaments resumes tomorrow night at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City, Johannesburg, South Africa. This leg of the competition features elite featherweight and welterweight contenders looking to advance toward the PFL Africa Championship.

The main event showcases a featherweight showdown between Nigeria’s Patrick “Starboi” Ocheme (6-1), who weighed in at 144.6 pounds, and Mohamed “Lamo Mohamed” Camara (5-2-1) of Guinea, who tipped the scales at 145.6 pounds.

Co-main event and key matchups

In the co-main event, Angola’s Shido Boris “Machine” Esperanca (9-1) meets Ibrahima “Freezer” Mané (14-5) of Gambia in a welterweight clash, with both fighters weighing 170.6 pounds. Other notable welterweight bouts include British Boloyoang vs. Octave Ayinda, Sanon Sadeck vs. Yabna N’tchala, and Osvaldo Benedito vs. Emilios Dassi.

Featherweight action continues with Wasi Adeshina vs. Jean Jacques Lubaya, Wilker Nsamo vs. Dwight Joseph, and Abdoul Razac Sankara vs. Shadrack Yemba, which was promoted to a first-round tournament bout. A catchweight showcase between Elbert Steyn and Abderrahman Errachidy was arranged after both fighters missed the featherweight limit.
