NBA Africa has officially launched the second edition of its Triple-Double Accelerator, a groundbreaking initiative supporting early-stage startups across the continent. The program, developed in partnership with ALX Ventures and new official partner ServiceNow, provides financial assistance and strategic mentorship to African entrepreneurs focused on technology-driven solutions in sports and creative industries.
Applications for the 2025 edition are now open until August 29 via TripleDoubleAccelerator.NBA.com. Startups selected will undergo a 10-week mentorship program and pitch their solutions at a high-profile Demo Day in December, where five winning companies will receive funding and continued business development support.
Mentorship, funding, and strategic growth for African tech innovators
The Triple-Double Accelerator is run in collaboration with ALX Ventures, a premier African incubator offering tools, networks, and resources to help tech startups scale. The second edition will also benefit from NBA Africa’s new partner ServiceNow, an AI business platform whose cutting-edge automation tools will assist in providing smarter, faster solutions to participating startups.
From the applicant pool, 10 standout startups will be selected to participate in a rigorous 10-week mentorship track. Selected founders will be matched with leaders from NBA Africa, ALX, ServiceNow, and other corporate stakeholders, who will guide them through product development, market strategy, and business scaling.
At the end of the program, all 10 startups will pitch at the Triple-Double Accelerator Demo Day, scheduled for December. The top five winners will receive financial support and ongoing mentorship to continue growing their companies.
Building on last year’s impact across African entrepreneurship
“Last year’s inaugural Triple-Double Accelerator program showed how much talent, passion and creativity there is among African entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of the continent’s rapidly growing sport and entertainment industries,” said NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi. “We look forward to reviewing this year’s submissions and to helping another round of promising startups take the next step in their development.”
The program’s first edition in 2024 drew over 700 applicants from across the continent. Ten finalists pitched their ventures at NBA headquarters in New York, with Festival Coins (Nigeria), Salubata (Nigeria), HustleSasa (Kenya), and UBR VR (Egypt) earning financial backing and mentorship as inaugural winners.
Details for the 2025 Demo Day will be announced at a later date.
