PLDT opened its PVL On Tour campaign with a straight-set win over Farm Fresh at the FilOil EcoOil Arena on Tuesday. The High Speed Hitters showed grit and teamwork in the third set, overcoming a late deficit to seal the victory.

What started as a routine match turned into a test of composure as PLDT rallied from a 19-23 hole. Kim Fajardo’s reverse 1-2 play sparked the momentum shift that stunned the Foxies.

Kiesha Bedonia delivered back-to-back aces while Shiela Kiseo capitalized on a blocking error to level the set. A miscue from Jolina dela Cruz allowed PLDT to reach match point after an inspired 8-2 run.

Farm Fresh fought back to force a set point behind Alohi Robins-Hardy’s quick push. But Mika Reyes responded with a running attack before blocking Caitlin Viray’s final hit to complete the one-hour, 29-minute sweep.

Bedonia Delivers in Pressure Moments

Bedonia, named Best Player of the Game, scored a match-high 14 points and came up big in the clutch. She credited coaches’ guidance and a focused mindset for her performance in the final stretch.

Without Savi Davison, Bedonia and Jovy Prado had to double their effort on both ends. Prado finished with nine markers while Reyes added 10 points, including the decisive block.

Majoy Baron and Kim Dy combined for 13 points as PLDT edged Farm Fresh in attacks, 38-36. They also led in blocks, 8-6, while converting 29 points off their opponents’ unforced errors.

Trisha Tubu led Farm Fresh with 14 points while Rizza Cruz and dela Cruz added 10 and nine, respectively. Despite their output, the Foxies are still adapting to Italian coach Alessandro Lodi’s system.

Defense and Composure Lead to Strong Finish

PLDT imposed control early with sharp execution in the opening frame, outscoring the Foxies 11-8 in attacks. Prado set the tone with four quick hits as the High Speed Hitters took charge at the net.

They also scored 11 points off turnovers in Set 1 while keeping their own errors to eight. Their composure and distributed offense helped maintain control against an inconsistent Farm Fresh side.

Farm Fresh showed flashes in Set 2 with 16 attack points, led by Tubu’s power and Cruz’s timely hits. However, eight service errors cost them crucial momentum throughout the frame.

Despite a late push that trimmed the gap to 21-24, Reyes sealed the set with a quick hit. PLDT’s balance, poise, and veteran leadership made the difference in key moments.
