Lyann De Guzman continued her meteoric rise in the PVL On Tour, exploding for 24 points to steer the Nxled Chameleons to a shocking 25-20, 26-28, 27-25, 25-22 win over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Sunday, June 29, night at the Batangas City Sports Center. It was her second straight Best Player of the Game effort and solidified her status as one of the league’s most exciting young stars.
Coming off a 21-point debut against Petro Gazz, the 23-year-old De Guzman showed no signs of slowing down. She delivered clutch hits throughout the match, including eight of Nxled’s last 15 points in the first set and the match-winning ace in the fourth that left her in tears after the confirmation call.
All-Around Brilliance and Team Effort
De Guzman added nine excellent digs and 12 receptions, showing that her game isn’t just built on offense. Her defense and composure in clutch moments have made her a reliable anchor for the Chameleons, now the solo leader in Pool A.
Chiara Permentilla backed her up with 19 points, while Jovelyn Fernandez added 14. Rookie May Ann Nuique made a late impact with a crucial block in the fourth that helped flip the momentum. The Chameleons erased a 21-22 deficit after Aduke Ogunsanya’s costly service error, then finished strong with points from Permentilla and De Guzman.
Choco Mucho dropped to 1-1 despite a balanced effort led by Isa Molde with 16 points. Ogunsanya had 10 markers, while Royse Tubino, Mean Mendrez, Jen Villegas, and Des Cheng each chipped in key contributions. Deanna Wong finished with 26 excellent receptions, but it wasn’t enough to stop Nxled’s fearless run.
De Guzman’s poise, power, and passion are turning heads—and if her first two games are any indication, this may just be the start of something special.
