The NBA Rising Stars Invitational continued with thrilling matchups as three teams punched their tickets to the semifinals on Day 2 of the tournament in Singapore. Flinders College (Australia), Fukuoka University Ohori Senior High School (Japan), and Tsinghua University High School (China) dominated their respective groups to become the first semifinalists.
Flinders College overwhelmed Delhi Public School (India) 68-28 to take Group C in the girls’ division. Kyoto Seika Gakuen Senior High School (Japan) also stood out with a 78-36 win over Hwa Chong Institution (Singapore), while Thailand’s Watnoinoppakhun School staged a comeback to defeat SMAK Penabur Cirebon (Indonesia) 67-58 and stay in contention.
NU-Nazareth and Tsinghua flex their strength
National University-Nazareth School (Philippines) opened its campaign with a convincing 81-60 win over Assumption College Thonburi (Thailand) in Group D. After leading by just two at halftime, the Filipinos pulled away in the second half by applying stronger ball movement and court awareness.
Tsinghua University High School ensured its semifinal entry with an 85-50 victory over Orkhon Aimag General Education 1st High School (Mongolia). In Group A, Nehru World School (India) edged United World College SEA Dover (Singapore) 66-62 in a close battle decided in the final seconds.
Fukuoka Ohori completes dominant group stage
Fukuoka Ohori Senior High School (Japan) demolished Hin Hua High School (Malaysia) 90-25 to top Group C in the boys’ division. Their size, speed, and teamwork were too much to handle for the Malaysian squad, confirming Japan’s strong contention this year.
The NBA Rising Stars Invitational continues until June 29 at the Kallang Tennis Hub. The event also features NBA fan activations, meet-and-greets, merchandise, and appearances from the Laker Girls and Miami Heat mascot Burnie, offering fans an immersive basketball festival experience in Singapore.
