Kaya FC-Iloilo and Stallion Laguna FC fought to a tense 1-1 draw Saturday night at the MoA Football Field, leaving the PFF Women’s League championship undecided heading into the season’s final matchday.
Mexican striker Julissa Cisneros delivered a clutch stoppage-time header to save Kaya’s season and extend the title race. The equalizer marked her 13th goal of the season, and came after Chandler McDaniel had put Stallion ahead with a 63rd-minute breakthrough.
Stallion currently tops the league standings with 23 points, but its season is now complete. Kaya follows closely with 20 points and holds a crucial advantage—a match in hand against Makati FC this coming Saturday. A victory will catapult Kaya to the title, thanks to its superior goal differential of 35-20 over Stallion.
“The trophy will stay in the box for now,” noted officials, as the league winner will officially be crowned this weekend.
Makati FC scores comeback win over Capital1
In earlier action, Makati FC rallied to defeat Capital1, 2-1, behind goals from Kawinthinda Kikuntod and Gae Yumanda, who scored in the 46th and 72nd minutes, respectively. The Solar Spikers’ lone goal came in the 13th minute courtesy of Angelica Teves.
Despite the loss, Capital1 finished third with 19 points, while Makati FC closed its campaign in fourth with 16.
The league finale between Kaya and Makati is now a high-stakes matchup with the championship on the line.
