Alas Pilipinas talents gear up for action at PNVF Beach Volleyball National Open 2025

Alas Pilipinas stars Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons will headline the women’s division in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Beach Volleyball National Open this Saturday, May 24,  at the Nuvali Sand Courts in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The duo, alongside three other Alas pairs, will showcase their skills in a highly anticipated competition organized by Beach Volleyball Republic.

Joining Rondina and Pons are seasoned players Jenny Gaviola and Alexa Polidario, Sofiah Pagara and Khy Progella, and Sunny Villapando and Dij Rodriguez. Pagara and Progella, reigning gold medalists from the December PNVF Invitational at Nuvali, add to the tournament’s excitement.

On the men’s side, four Alas Pilipinas pairs will compete: James Buytrago and Jude Garcia, Lerry Francisco and Jaron Requinton, Ranran Abdilla and Edwin Tolentino, and Ronniel Rosales and Rancel Varga. Their efforts are joined by top university champions, including National University’s Honey Grace Cordero and Kizil Doren Quijote representing the Lady Bulldogs, and Bullpups’ Faith Mangyao and Liezl Dejan.

Other notable teams include NU-Nazareth School’s Vilmarie Toos, teamed with veteran Bea Tan for Team Ilonggas, and a competitive girls’ lineup featuring players from UP, Negros, Solar Home Suns, and College of Saint Benilde. The men’s division boasts reigning UAAP and high school champions from the University of Santo Tomas and several strong pairs from NU, FEU, UP, Benilde, and Solar Home Suns.

Pool play kicks off at 7 a.m., with quarterfinals and semifinals scheduled from 12 noon, and the final match set for 6 p.m. On Friday, national team coach Joao Luciano Kiodai will conduct a Sandroots clinic from 4 to 6 p.m., offering free t-shirts to the first 60 registrants.
