The Creamline Cool Smashers have added more accolades to their storied legacy, clinching Team of the Year and Coach of the Year honors at the inaugural Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night, set for May 28 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City.

Recognized for their unmatched consistency and championship pedigree, Creamline has recorded 176 wins in 216 all-time matches, establishing a dominant eight-year legacy in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

Their crowning achievement? A historic 2024 PVL Grand Slam, sweeping all three conferences in the season to become the league’s first triple-crown champions.

Peer and Media Recognition

The 10-time PVL titleholders topped the Team of the Year voting with 13.6 points, comprised of 10.8 from media and 2.8 from fellow teams. Runner-up Petro Gazz followed with 9.4 points, buoyed by their All-Filipino Conference title win that briefly halted Creamline’s reign.

But Creamline rose stronger from that stumble. Despite major setbacks—including injuries to Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos, and Jema Galanza’s absence due to national duties—new names stepped up. American import Erica Staunton, in her pro debut, took charge alongside Bernadeth Pons, Michele Gumabao, and Kyle Negrito to complete the sweep.

Their season-defining 19-game win streak, the second-longest in PVL history, was a testament to Creamline’s depth and resilience.

Meneses: Architect of Greatness

At the heart of this success is Coach Sherwin Meneses, now officially PVL’s Coach of the Year. The 42-year-old tactician tallied 11 points in the poll (7.8 media, 3.2 teams), edging out Koji Tsuzurabara of Petro Gazz (9.6 points) and Taka Minowa of Akari (2.4 points).

With seven PVL championships in just three years, Meneses joins an elite group of only four coaches in Philippine sports history to have ever completed a grand slam.

He also became the PVL’s first “centurion coach”, notching his 100th win in a quarterfinal sweep of Chery Tiggo. His 104-18 win-loss card and 85.25 percent winning rate are unmatched among the league’s 45 head coaches to date.

Under Meneses’ steady leadership and the Cool Smashers’ “no ego, just good vibes” philosophy, the team continues to flourish—even without its biggest stars.

As the PVL continues to grow, Creamline remains the standard of excellence, both in performance and in culture.
