Brooke Van Sickle makes PVL history with back-to-back MVP wins for Petro Gazz

Brooke Van Sickle continued her reign as the league’s top performer, earning her second straight Most Valuable Player award in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference. The Petro Gazz standout was honored on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum after a stellar season that anchored the Angels’ finals run.

The Fil-Hawaiian outside hitter proved once again why she’s one of the most complete players in the league. Van Sickle ranked third in scoring with 349 total points—built on 296 attacks, 30 kill blocks, and a league-high 23 service aces. She was also the second-best spiker with a 36.86% success rate and topped the league in aces per set with 0.38.

Van Sickle Shines on Both Ends of the Court

Van Sickle’s excellence wasn’t limited to offense. She also ranked third in receiving (35.37% efficiency) and sixth in digging (2.89 per set), showcasing her all-around brilliance. Her back-to-back MVP win solidifies her status as one of the most consistent and dynamic athletes in the league.

Other PVL 2025 Individual Award Winners

  • Best Outside Spikers: PLDT’s Savannah Davison and Creamline’s Bernadeth Pons
    Davison, a first-time awardee, finished as the second-best scorer with 355 points and led all spikers with a 38.62% success rate. Pons was fourth in spiking (34.58%) and placed 12th in scoring with 195 points.

  • Best Opposite Spiker: Trisha Tubu (Farm Fresh)
    Now a two-time winner, Tubu finished sixth in scoring with 227 points and ranked third in spiking (36.05%).

  • Best Middle Blockers: Bea De Leon (Creamline) and Thea Gagate (ZUS Coffee)
    De Leon topped the blocking charts with 0.77 per set, while Gagate led the league in total blocks (48) and added 190 points, the most among middle blockers.

  • Best Setter: Kyle Negrito (Creamline)
    Negrito claimed her third career Best Setter award after averaging 4.98 excellent sets per set and ranking fifth in serving (0.25 aces per set).

  • Best Libero: Thang Ponce (Choco Mucho)
    Ponce took home her third Best Libero title, leading the league in receiving (47.83%) and ranking fourth in digging (3.31 per set).

  • Rookie of the Conference: Ishie Lalongisip (Cignal)
    The seventh overall pick in the 2024 PVL Draft stepped up for the HD Spikers and was the third-best rookie scorer, tallying 134 points for the conference.
