Capital1, Makati FC dominate as PFF Women’s League heats up

Capital1 and Makati FC proved they are no pushovers in the 2025 PFF Women’s League after notching impressive shutout victories over the weekend at the Mall of Asia Football Pitch.

In a six-team tournament where collegiate teams are often considered underdogs and top-tier clubs like Kaya-Iloilo and Stallion Laguna are expected to dominate, these results from the newcomers could reshape the championship narrative.

Capital1 Solar Strikers bounced back from an opening loss to crush University of the Philippines (UP), 5-0. Forward Lyka Teves, who scored the fourth goal in the 65th minute, credited their turnaround to key tactical changes.
“After our first loss, our coach made a lot of adjustments,” Teves said. “I’m happy we were able to execute everything.”

Veteran Marienell Cristobal opened the scoring early in the 6th minute, followed by Judie Arevalo’s goal before halftime. U.S.-based players Arianna del Moral and Emma Young added goals in the second half, sealing the rout.

Meanwhile, Makati FC continued their unbeaten run with a commanding 4-0 win over University of Santo Tomas (UST). Despite being one of the youngest squads in the league, MFC’s multicultural roster played with poise beyond their years.

Nafeeza Nori, a 13-year-old from Indonesia, netted two goals (57th, 77th) and declared, “This is my best team ever.”
Ghanaian forward Veronica Appiah broke the ice in the 49th minute, while Mikaela Villacin capped the win in stoppage time. The youngest player in the league, 12-year-old Ariana Gementiza, even tallied an assist in her debut.

As Capital1 and Makati FC continue to rise, traditional powerhouses may have to look over their shoulders. The new kids on the block are no longer just learning — they’re winning.
