PNVF hosts AVC Beach Tour Second Nuvali Open, showcasing elite competition

Elite beach volleyball action returns to Santa Rosa City, Laguna, as the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) hosts the Rebisco Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Beach Tour Second Nuvali Open from April 2 to 6 at the Nuvali Sand Courts by Ayala Land.

AVC president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, who also leads the PNVF, emphasized the Philippines’ growing stature as a hub for international beach volleyball.

“The Philippines has become the epicenter of beach volleyball in Asia, as proven by this tournament that will gather a total of 40 teams from 11 countries,” Suzara said.

With 18 women’s pairs from eight countries and 22 men’s tandems from 11 nations, the tournament promises high-level competition, providing local teams an opportunity to test their skills against international challengers.

Philippine Teams Ready for Battle

The Philippines will field four women’s teams and three men’s teams, all eager to showcase their talent on home sand.

Women’s Teams:

  • Khylem Hari Progella / Sofiah Shanain Pagara

  • Sunnie Kalani Villapando / Jenny Gaviola

  • Alexa Polidario / Lorien Isobel Gamboa

  • Kathrina Epah / Honey Grace Cordero

Men’s Teams:

  • James Buytrago / Rancel Varga

  • Edwin Tolentino / Lerry John Francisco

  • Ronniel Rosales / Alexander Jhon Iraya

The tournament will serve as crucial preparation for the country’s top beach volleyball athletes, especially with the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship Philippines 2025 fast approaching in September.

International Challenge from 11 Countries

The Philippines’ teams will face strong competition from some of Asia and Oceania’s best squads.

Competing nations:

  • Australia (3 women’s, 3 men’s teams)

  • Thailand (3 women’s, 3 men’s teams)

  • China (2 women’s, 2 men’s teams)

  • Japan (3 women’s, 3 men’s teams)

  • Hong Kong (1 women’s, 1 men’s team)

  • Uzbekistan (1 women’s, 1 men’s team)

  • Malaysia (1 women’s team)

  • New Zealand (2 men’s teams)

  • Iran (2 men’s teams)

  • Indonesia (2 men’s teams)

With international stars bringing their A-game, fans can expect thrilling matchups and intense rallies throughout the event.

The AVC Beach Tour Second Nuvali Open is presented by Rebisco, a consistent supporter of volleyball in the country.

As the competition heats up, Filipino volleyball fans can look forward to seeing their national teams battle for podium finishes while gaining valuable experience against some of the best in the region.
