Later in the day, the Filipinos outlasted Korea 21-17 in a thrilling contest, thanks to a 12-point explosion from Manday. The victory was crucial in their bid to advance to the Main Draw of the tournament.
“It feels really good. We executed our coach’s plays well and worked hard on both offense and defense. We need to improve our defense before facing India,” Manday said.
The Philippines will now battle India, with both teams holding undefeated records. The winner will advance to Pool B of the Main Draw alongside top-ranked teams.
Other unbeaten squads on Day 1 include Iran, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
