PH Olympic medalists receive new homes in Tagaytay

Paris Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, along with bronze medalists Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio, have been rewarded with new homes in Tagaytay City. The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), led by President Abraham Bambol Tolentino, officially turned over the keys to their new properties at the Prime Peak Town House subdivision in Barangay Silang Crossing West.

“They deserve these homes. They are not only our Olympic heroes, but they are also national treasures,” said Tolentino, who also serves as the mayor of Tagaytay City.

Carlos Yulo’s New Home in Tagaytay

Yulo, who won gold in the men’s floor exercise and vault at the Paris Olympics, was awarded a two-storey home on a spacious 500-square meter lot. The house, valued at P15 million, was also a belated birthday gift for Yulo, who turned 25 on February 16.

“I’m very grateful and feeling blessed to receive this house-and-lot. I’m thankful for how the POC supported us in our Olympic preparations,” Yulo shared during the house blessing officiated by Fr. Eugenio Lopez.

With Tagaytay’s cool climate and new sports facilities, including the country’s first indoor and wood UCI-standard velodrome, Yulo now has a perfect retreat when he’s not competing on the world stage.

Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio’s New Residences

Villegas, who secured an Olympic bronze medal in boxing, received a two-storey home on a 200-square meter lot in the same village. She expressed her excitement about having a place to stay in Tagaytay when taking breaks from her training in Baguio City.

Petecio, another boxing bronze medalist, also received a home in Tagaytay. Unlike Villegas, she plans to settle in her new residence permanently.

“I will be living here with my brother and family, and we’ll rent out our first house here too,” said Petecio, who remains focused on her quest for an Olympic gold medal in Los Angeles 2028.

POC’s Continued Support for Olympic Athletes

Since assuming the POC presidency, Tolentino has consistently provided incentives to inspire Filipino athletes.

“This is what we’ve been doing since I became POC president—to keep the athletes motivated to win more medals for our country,” he said.

Other Olympic medalists who have received homes in Tagaytay include:

  • Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo – The country’s first Olympic gold medalist was rewarded with a house in Isabel Heights, Barangay Kaybagal Central after her historic Tokyo 2020 triumph.

  • Carlo Paalam and Eumir Marcial – Both boxing medalists from the Tokyo Olympics were also granted houses in Barangay San Jose.

With the Paris medalists now receiving their well-earned rewards, the POC continues to recognize and support athletes who bring glory to the Philippines on the Olympic stage.
