PFL MENA Season 2 set to launch in Jeddah with expanded vision

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced that Season 2 of PFL MENA will kick off at the Onyx Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Following the success of its inaugural season, the league aims to further establish mixed martial arts (MMA) in the Middle East by highlighting top regional fighters and offering them a clear path to international recognition.

A new home for MMA in Jeddah

This year, PFL MENA partners with Jeddah Season, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest cultural and entertainment festivals. The collaboration is expected to bring MMA to a broader audience, integrating the sport into the city’s vibrant event calendar.

Jeddah, which first hosted a major MMA event in 2014, has a growing fanbase and a strong connection to the sport. With this event, PFL MENA aims to reignite local enthusiasm while showcasing top-tier talent.

Spotlight on local fighters

PFL MENA Season 2 will feature some of the region’s most promising fighters, including Jeddah-based Malik Basahel (21-3-1 AM), who will make his professional debut, and Ahmed Makki, who is set for his final professional fight.

“We’re very excited to be coming back for a second season and expanding our reach to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,” said Jerome Mazet, PFL MENA General Manager. “Jeddah is home to a number of amazing fighters and has a strong fanbase, so we’re excited and grateful to bring the sport of MMA back to this incredible city.”

Building on Season 1’s success

The inaugural PFL MENA season in 2024 successfully elevated the Middle Eastern MMA scene, producing emerging stars and captivating fans. Season 2 aims to build on that momentum by creating new heroes and delivering high-level fights.

“Last year, the first-ever season of PFL MENA was a massive success, and it did a wonderful job of elevating the sport of MMA in the Middle East,” Mazet added. “We cannot wait to put on even more amazing events and build even more stars this year.”
