Paul “Big News” Hughes is set to headline PFL Europe Belfast on May 10, 2025, at The SSE Arena, marking his long-awaited homecoming fight. Tickets go on sale on March 12 via Ticketmaster.ie, with an exclusive venue pre-sale available starting today at 10 a.m. GMT.

Hughes’ return to Belfast

At 27 years old, Hughes has already made waves in the global MMA scene. The former Cage Warriors featherweight champion moved up to lightweight and made an instant impact, defeating AJ McKee in October 2024 and pushing Usman Nurmagomedov to a razor-thin majority decision in a “Fight of the Year” contender this past January.

Now, Hughes will headline at The SSE Arena—just minutes from his gym—in a fight that promises fireworks for his hometown fans.

“All my career I’ve said I will main event The SSE Arena, and we’ve made my dream into a reality. Belfast, I’m coming to put on a show for my people, and I will show you how much your support means to me. It’s time to get to work.” – Paul Hughes

PFL Europe tournament kicks off in Belfast

The event also marks the first PFL Europe tournament fights of 2025, featuring elite European fighters battling for a chance at the PFL Europe championship and a $100,000 grand prize.

PFL CEO Pete Murray emphasized the importance of bringing the event to Belfast, given the passionate Fighting Irish fanbase.

“Belfast, the PFL is coming to The SSE Arena with some Big News. The vocal support for Paul meant this was an easy decision, and I can’t wait to feel the atmosphere. Belfast, get your tickets, we have a feeling this event will go down in history.” – Pete Murray
